Join a guided tour to one of the many beautiful mountains in Åmli!
We adapt the trip to your wishes and level – whether it's a quiet day trip with great viewpoints, or a more demanding mountain hike for those who want a real challenge.

We have good local knowledge of the mountains and ensure a safe and memorable experience. There will be light refreshments along the way with coffee, tea and some chocolate. Below we have three different tour options where we offer:

Rjukan Waterfall in Tovdal

Deep in the forests of Tovdal, Rjukanfossen falls with a force that is both moving and calming. This is not just a waterfall – it is a place where the pace slows down, the senses are sharpened, and nature is given space to work.

The experience starts with an atmospheric walk along the river, which follows us for much of the trip. The terrain is easy to medium demanding , varied and lively – just enough to give the body work and the mind peace. Once at the waterfall, we want to set aside 30 minutes of time for quiet contemplation , focusing on presence: no words, no distractions – just breathing, the rhythm of the water and the silence of the forest.

Time usage:
– Driving: approx. 45 minutes each way from Camp Simonstad
– Hiking: approx. 2 hours each way
– Quiet contemplation by the waterfall: 30 minutes

This is a holistic nature experience for those who want more than just a hike – a journey into landscape, silence and inner space.

Trongedalsnuten is Åmli's highest mountain and a quiet highlight in the interior of Agder. The landscape is open, raw and little affected - mountains, forest and sky dominate here, without a trace of crowds or facilities.

The hike goes through varied forest terrain and further up into more open mountain scenery. The climb is steady but long, and provides a clear transition from valley to height. At the top, there is a 30-minute period of quiet contemplation , where the view and silence are allowed to take effect – without words, without distractions. On the way back, we stop at one of the beautiful swimming holes in Elva for a refreshing swim after a long hike.

Practical information:
– Height: approx. 929 m above sea level (Åmli's highest mountain)
– Driving: approx. 60 minutes each way from Camp Simonstad
– Hiking: approx. 9 hours total
– Terrain: Medium to demanding , exposed to weather at the top

This is a trip for those seeking true mountain peace and perspective – far from noise, and very close to nature.

Vardeheia - Gangsei

https://s3.amazonaws.com/gs-geo-images/79ba5971-5cd0-4808-92fc-2c8eed5a2062_l.jpg

Vardeheia at Gangsei is located within a protected nature reserve – a quiet heathland landscape characterized by old forest, open areas and rocky terrain. Here, nature is largely left to itself, and the area invites peace, slowness and respectful movement.

The hike is a round trip of approx. 7 km , which provides variety without going back the same way. The terrain is easy to medium demanding , but with some sections that are occasionally quite steep , which gives the hike both character and physical presence. At a natural stopping point , 30 minutes of quiet contemplation are set aside, focusing on breathing, landscape and presence.

Practical information:
– Driving: approx. 25 minutes each way from Camp Simonstad
– Hiking: Round trip approx. 7 km
– Time required: approx. 4–5 hours total , including breaks and contemplation
– Terrain: Easy to medium , with steep sections
– Area: Nature reserve – traffic is carried out with respect for conservation values

This is an accessible, yet rich nature experience – close enough to be suitable as a half-day excursion, but rich enough to provide both silence, views and immersion.
